The calorific value is the amount of energy a tonne of pellets contains and is determined by measuring the heat produced. The ENPlusA1 standard demands at least 4,600 KWh/t. Woodlets guarantee a minimum of 4800 KWh/t.
The calorific value is important as the pellets can only produce the amount of heat that is embodied in them at manufacture, a low CV pellet will not have the capability of producing a high KW/h value.6
