The sustainability of wood pellets is often questioned and is something we take very seriously in the production of Woodlets. We only take in raw material from Forest Standard accredited forests in the UK along with co-product (waste) from sawmills in the form of sawdust, wood chip and logs rejected by sawmills due to their size or shape.
Our location on the Ayrshire coast and the Galloway forest helps to minimise the distance the majority of our raw material travels by road, as we regularly receive shipments of timber direct to the factory.
Our knowledge of wood pellets doesn’t just come from manufacturing them, but also from our experience of powering our entire manufacturing site by a biomass Combined Heat & Power plant (CHP) which if fuelled by mixed sources of waste woodchip.
All of this ensures that we minimise the use of fossil fuels in our production process and that our pellets have an ultra-low carbon footprint.
