BSL numbers and your wood pellet paper trail.

BSL numbers and your wood pellet paper trail.

20 October 2017

As part of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) process and to ensure your payments, RHI recipients are required to comply with twelve ongoing obligations and responsibilities.  These obligations range from maintaining the paper trail of your wood pellet orders to notifying Ofgem if your boiler is not working. Full details of your ongoing obligations can be found on the Ofgem website.

Regarding the fuel purchases for your biomass boiler or stove, you must be able to provide evidence confirming which type of fuel you have purchased and that the supplier is registered on the Biomass Suppliers List (BSL). You may be asked to provide evidence of your purchases and supplier by Ofgem during an inspection.

There is also a requirement to complete an annual renewable heat incentive declaration, as the name suggests, annually and this is when we are often asked for our Biomass Supplier List number at short notice.  If you have bought your Woodlets via our website www.woodlets.co.uk your email conformation contains all the information that is needed (see the example below), your order number, date and time of the order and our BSL number.  The BSL code can be found easily as it starts with BSL and is followed by 7 digits, a hyphen and then another 4 digits, ours is BSL0044152-0004.  The same information is also available on our telephone order confirmations.
